Automating Gas Leak Detection in Industrial Environments
Gas leaks represent a critical concern for the safety of human lives and valuable equipment investments within sprawling industrial and public sites. While stationary gas sensors serve a purpose, manual inspections have proven to be notably more effective. Trained personnel can meticulously examine gas equipment and pipelines utilizing specialized gas leak detectors. Enter the S6.3 robot, a pioneering solution designed to automate the inspection of oil and gas infrastructure sites, particularly prioritizing rapid detection and isolation of gas leaks even in remote areas.
Operating autonomously, this innovative robot navigates predetermined routes, swiftly assessing gas concentrations near potential leak sources. Employing a laser beam based on Absorption Spectroscopy, it achieves precise gas concentration measurement. This technique is facilitated by mounting the device on a mobile platform boasting three degrees of freedom. With the S6.3 robot leading the way, the process of gas leak detection undergoes a transformation, substantially enhancing safety and operational efficiency across the industrial landscape.
Quick and precisely accurate scanning
The S6.3 Gas Leak Detection Robot incorporates gyro-stabilization, dual-spectral imaging with visible and infrared cameras, remote gas leak scanning, wireless data transmission, and anemometer integration for precise and cost-effective gas infrastructure inspections.
Quick and precisely accurate scanning is the result of the S6’s gyro-stabilized platform. The moving platform also has two cameras (for visible light and infrared spectrum) that create a two-spectral image of the leak and help to precisely locate it on the equipment. The image from these cameras, along with the measurement data obtained by the remote gas leak scanner, is transmitted to the operator via WiFi. If gas concentration is high, the operator is alerted.
The S6 Gas Leak Detection and Isolation Robot is designed for regular inspection of gas infrastructure at minimal cost and without direct human input. To ensure best results and account for wind, the mobile robot is equipped with an anemometer. This highly reliable robot is designed for use at sparsely staffed sites or unmanned gas stations. It helps to detect hidden risks promptly, thus preventing immeasurably greater potential damages.
